In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of Daedalus, the Labyrinth’s Creator (in Crete), where the king οf Knossos held them in captivity. When they escaped, using the wings Daedalus made, Icarus ignored his father’s admonitions at his desire to fly as high as he could. The sun’s heat melted the wax of his wings and he fell into the sea where he drowned.
